Bio

I am passionate about learning and have been from a young age. As an experienced teacher with over 12 years’ in schools including as Head of Geography, I am well experienced in delivering lessons tailored to the individual needs of students from ages 11-18 years.

I have had the pleasure of working in schools around the country in Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire and am continuing my love of supporting students through their studies whilst I retrain into a different career. I can provide tutoring in person or online. I have taught a wide range of students through the requirements of GCSE and A-level including exam preparation and NEA coursework submissions, with a detailed understanding of the exam technique required to gain high marks in exams.

I have been fortunate enough to travel the world, meet wonderful people of varying backgrounds and see some of the most incredible landscapes on the planet. I passionately believe geography is a subject that holds the key to solving some of the biggest issues facing us in the 21st century and is therefore one of the most employable subjects there is.

Education

BSc in Geography

Sep 2006 - Jul 2009

My degree in Geography took me to New York, Finland, Colorado, Belgium, and the Netherlands. I have a science background and my degree specialised in the study of meteorology, climatology and soil science. During my degree I covered a wide range of both human and physical geography topics to ensure the interconnected nature of geography could be fully understood. This complexity of thinking and study is incredibly important for both A level and GCSE Geography.

PGCE in Geography (Age 11 to 18)

Sep 2010 - Jul 2011

My PGCE, and resulting Qualified Teacher Status, was completed in inner city schools in Portsmouth. This included some masters level credits towards the study of student motivation and intrinsic rewards. I have, therefore, developed a patient and kind approach to teaching so students can take responsibility for their learning in a way that is supported throughout the process.
