Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions govern your use of this online tutoring platform. By accessing or using these services, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully before proceeding.

 

1. Service Agreement

1.1 By using this online tutoring service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these terms and agree to be legally bound by them.

1.2 You must be at least 18 years old or have the consent of a legal guardian to use these services.

1.3 You agree to provide accurate and complete information during the registration process and keep your account information up to date.

1.4 You agree to provide up to date contact and payment information throughout the use of the service and have a working email address that can be used for booking confirmations and payment information.

 

2. Tutoring Sessions and Booking

2.1 All tutoring sessions are to be booked electronically via chrissydoeltutoring.co.uk, including in person tutoring.

2.2 The tutoring sessions are conducted online via video conferencing software or other agreed-upon platforms. This will include Zoom, Teams and your email provider.

2.3 You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary equipment, internet connection, and software to participate in the tutoring sessions. This includes the use of audio and visual equipment so both parties can see and hear each other.

2.4 Sessions will be scheduled at mutually agreed-upon times. Late arrivals may result in a shortened session, and missed sessions without prior notice will be charged. See ‘payments and refunds’ for further information on charges.

2.5 You agree to treat the tutor with respect and to engage in the tutoring session in a professional manner. Inappropriate behaviour or language may result in termination of the session and further action, if necessary.

2.6 Tutoring sessions are booked on a first come first serve basis. If you wish to reserve a regular slot, this must be booked through chrissydoeltutoring.co.uk in advance.

2.7 All tutoring sessions will run for the time allocated and paid for. If tutoring sessions regularly overrun, a discussion may be had about increasing the booked timeslot to encompass the learning needed. This change will be agreed in advance and cost calculated per the hourly rate of the paid session.

 

3. Payments and Refunds

3.1 Fees for tutoring services will be clearly stated before starting any sessions at chrissydoeltutoring.co.uk.

3.2 Payment for tutoring sessions shall be made in advance using the booking system on chrissydoeltutoring.co.uk.

3.3 Changes to the schedule must be clearly communicated at least 24 hours in advance, the tutor will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such changes. Missed sessions without this prior notice will be charged in full.

3.4 If the client wishes to cancel or reschedule a tutoring session, they must notify the tutor at least 24 hours in advance. Missed sessions without this prior notice will be charged in full.

3.5 Refunds may be granted in exceptional circumstances, such as technical difficulties preventing the session from taking place. Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

4. Intellectual Property

4.1 All materials provided by the tutor during the tutoring sessions are for personal use and educational purposes only.

4.2 You agree not to reproduce, distribute, modify, or use any materials provided by the tutor for any commercial purposes without prior written consent.

 

5. Availability and holidays

5.1 Availability may be subject to change in unforeseen circumstances such as illness, emergencies, or other unavoidable events. In such cases, you will be notified as soon as possible and we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the session at a mutually available time.

5.2 In the event of extreme weather or other emergencies that prevent the tutor reaching an in person tutoring location, sessions may need to be rescheduled. Any such closures will be communicated as soon as possible.

5.3 During the holiday periods, the availability of tutors may be limited due to vacation or other commitments.

5.4 It is advisable to schedule tutoring sessions in advance during the holidays to ensure availability.

5.5 The specific dates and duration of any planned extended holidays will be communicated with you if necessary.

5.6 Chrissydoeltutoring.co.uk will provide available slots during the holidays. If any regular sessions are not clearly available on the website, it is likely due to vacation.

5.7 Refunds for cancelled sessions during the summer holidays will be subject to the refund policy outlined in Section 3.

5.8 Reasonable efforts to accommodate scheduling needs during the summer holidays will be made.

 

6. Termination

6.1 We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to my services at any time without prior notice if we believe you have violated these terms or engaged in any fraudulent or illegal activities.

6.2 You may terminate use of these services by giving a written notice. Any fees paid in advance for future sessions will be refunded on a pro-rata basis.

 

7. Communication

7.1. Communication will be established to coordinate any concerns or seek clarification on tutoring matters. This may include emails, calls, or other agreed methods.

7.2 Initial consultation: prior to the first tutoring session, an initial consultation will be conducted to discuss your specific needs, goals, and expectations. This is an opportunity to communicate preferences and establish lines of communication.

7.3 During working hours, usual response time will be within 24 hours.  

7.4 While communication outside of working hours may occur, it is essential to understand that the response time may be longer than during regular working hours. Efforts will be made to respond to urgent messages promptly, but the client should understand that immediate responses may not always be possible.

7.5 It is important both the tutor and client should respect each other’s personal time and ensure that communication outside of tutoring hours is kept to a minimum focusing on essential matters only.

7.6 Feedback will be provided on student progress during tutoring sessions directly with the student in question. Should parents wish to hear this feedback alongside the student, they can attend the last 5 minutes of the session, agreed upon in advance.

8. Submission of Work for Online Tutoring Sessions

In order to ensure the highest quality of tutoring and to provide personalized, detailed feedback, students are required to adhere to the following terms regarding the submission of work for online tutoring sessions:

8.1 Submission Deadline: Students must submit any work or assignments they wish to be reviewed and discussed during the online tutoring session at least 48 hours (2 days) prior to the scheduled session time. This policy is in place to allow tutors sufficient time to thoroughly review and prepare constructive feedback.

8.2 Submission Method: Work should be submitted through the designated online platform or via email, as specified by the tutor or tutoring service. Please ensure that the submission includes the student's name, session date, and any specific areas of concern or questions to be addressed.

8.3 Late Submissions: Work submitted less than 48 hours before the scheduled session may not be reviewed in time for the session. In such cases, the tutor cannot guarantee that the work will be discussed during the session, and it may be necessary to reschedule the review of the work for a subsequent session.

8.4 Quality of Submissions: Students are expected to submit work that is their own and to adhere to all applicable academic honesty policies. The work submitted should be complete to the best of the student's ability, allowing the tutor to provide meaningful feedback on the content.

8.5 Rescheduling and Cancellations: If a student is unable to submit work by the required deadline and wishes to reschedule the session, they must notify the tutor at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled session time. Failure to do so may result in the session being counted as conducted without the possibility of a refund or credit.

8.6 Feedback and Discussion: The tutor will provide feedback and discuss the submitted work during the tutoring session. Students are encouraged to actively engage in the discussion to maximize the learning experience.

 

By submitting work for review in accordance with these terms, students agree to abide by the conditions set forth herein. These policies are intended to foster a productive and effective tutoring experience for both students and tutors.

 

9. Additional services 

9.1 Please note that the tutoring website operates on a fee-based model, and as such, there are certain terms and conditions that govern my services. One of these conditions includes payment for marking and assistance provided outside of regular tutoring hours.

9.2 I understand that students may require additional support outside of designated tutoring sessions. In such cases, if you request the marking of assignments, written feedback, or help beyond the agreed-upon tutoring hours, there will be an additional fee associated with these services. This can be purchased on the website under ‘additional services’ and charged at the rate of £30 per hour.

9.3 We believe in transparent and fair pricing, and any additional charges for marking or assistance outside of regular tutoring hours will be clearly communicated with you in advance. This allows you to make an informed decision about whether to proceed with these additional services.

9.4 Please keep in mind that I with a busy schedule and limited availability outside of regular tutoring hours I kindly request that you reach out in advance to discuss any requests for marking or assistance outside of the agreed-upon tutoring sessions.

9.5 Written reports for school’s use or information will not be provided as part of the service.  

9.6 By utilizing the tutoring website and engaging in tutoring, you agree to adhere to these terms and conditions regarding payment for marking and assistance provided outside of regular tutoring hours.

10 Privacy Policy

10.1 Personal data is collected in accordance with the privacy policy. By using these services, you consent to such collection and processing.

10.2 Personal information is collected from you when signing up for tutoring services. This may include your name; contact information and any information you voluntarily provide.

10.3 Your information is not shared or traded to any third parties.

10.4 Online tutoring sessions are not recorded as per privacy policy.

11. Modifications

11.1 We reserve the right to modify or update these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be effective upon posting on the website.

12. Price Adjustments

12.1 Annual Price Increase: Tutoring session fees are subject to an annual review and adjustment. Prices for tutoring services will increase each year on the 1st of August.

12.2 Effective Date: The new rates will take effect on the 1st of August each year. Any sessions booked and paid for before this date will be charged at the current rate, even if the session occurs after the price increase.

12.3 Rate Confirmation: By continuing to use the tutoring services after the new rates take effect, you agree to the updated pricing. If you do not agree with the price increase, you may terminate your use of the services as outlined in Section 6.2.

12.4 Inflation Adjustment: The annual price increase will generally reflect inflation and cost-of-living adjustments, but we reserve the right to adjust prices based on other factors, including but not limited to changes in operational costs or market conditions.
